About me
My name is Linh. I am currently an independant filmmaker living in Hanoi, Vietnam. I graduated with a Banking and Finance Degree, but I not found any fulfilment in the corporate environment. Through class assignments about making videos relating to problem-solving skills in banking environment, I realized that I have a talent for creating contents and filmmaking.
I attended a short course about film-making in The Centre for Assistance and Development of Movie Talents (TPD) while most of my friend followed their career as a banker. I initiated Inspiring Circle, a not-for-profit project supporting young student in orienting their future career before landing a job as a Production Manager in Educational Television Centre (VTV7), Vietnam Television.
In 2018, my first short-film won Special Prize in Illegal Wildlife Trade MeKong Short Film Competition. I found it is time for me to pursuit my dream job as an independent filmmaker. I maded a difficult decision to quit my job in Vietnam Television and travelled across my country to produce documentary films about social issues, including human trafficking, disabled children and child marriage. These trips help me realize the value of life and the important of eradicating social prejudices.
In my country, most of people followed their career in the economic field and girls are expected to work in the office because this develops a sense of job security. However, I would like to prove that a girl can be happy and sucess when she can choose to be herself.
